What is a Capsule Collection?

What is a Capsule Collection?

Hi Friends!

Happy Tuesday! :) After organizing your closet per last week's post you can really see what you have and make decisions on what to donate, toss or keep. You always want to make sure you have your key basics that are timeless, can mix and match and style different ways. It's a better bang for your buck, am I right?!

Typically, "a capsule wardrobe functions as the basic building blocks of your closet and contains essential, timeless, high-quality pieces that you can wear at any time." (masterclass.com)

So where did that idea come from?

According to Business of Fashion Donna Karan popularized the idea of creating a wardrobe with a designers "most essential & influential pieces from a collection."

You can totally do the same thing with your closet or even get rid of everything & just have a capsule collection for a more minimalist lifestyle. Usually, you have these pieces already in your closet that you wear all the time but are able to style them multiple ways for example your fav sweater that you wear with jeans or over a dress. If you feel like you don't have any of these pieces check out some below! These will help you curate your very own capsule collection!

Example 1: LBD or aka Little Black Dress. Wear alone or throw a sweater over!
